Wild Things spent a fantastic day in the Elgin Oakwoods with young carers from Quarriers. Participants explored the woodland, identifying bird and animal tracks and signs and worked together to build a large shelter. They also made elder beads and enjoyed a relaxing lunchtime in hammocks, connecting with nature – and enjoying the time to breathe and relax.

Fieldwork Manager Paul Kendall said: “It was inspiring to see the young people working together as one big team, learning practical skills and engaging with the natural world. Days like this show how outdoor activities can build confidence, creativity and a sense of belonging.”

Activities like this reflect Wild Things’ ongoing commitment to providing meaningful outdoor experiences that combine learning, wellbeing and teamwork.
