Conservation Volunteer Opportunities

Wild Things are working with Moray Council and the Findhorn, Nairn and Lossie Rivers Trust. We are working to restore habitats and increase biodiversity at four sites across Elgin and Forres and we need your help.

Opportunities around Elgin
Wild Things are working with Moray Council to complete conservation activities at Oakwoods, Millbuies and The Wards. These include non-native tree removal, biological recording and wildflower and tree planting. We would like to involve the local community as much as possible in this work. There will also be activity days at these sites through the summer and autumn so keep an eye on the Wild Things website and facebook page for more information on those.

Opportunities around Forres
Wild Things work with a dedicated team of volunteers to remove invasive non-native species along the lower River Findhorn. Since the project started in 2015 we have drastically reduced the extent of hazardous plants such as Giant hogweed, allowing native species to thrive.

None of this would have been possible without the support of our fantastic volunteers. The project is now at a stage where we need more volunteer support to keep progressing. The area we
cover each year is vast and extra volunteers would provide us with enough resources to keep pushing down towards Findhorn Bay.

Volunteers do require a certain level of fitness, but we appreciate all the help we can get and are accommodating of individual needs wherever possible. We are also able to offer travel expenses to
our volunteers.
