It is a huge honour to discover that the work of Wild things! has been put forward for discussion in the Scottish Parliament! We were delighted to receive correspondence from Richard Lochhead, MSP, who has commended us on the charitable work we do in providing opportunities for young people to engage with the outdoors and learn new skills. Mr Lochhead advised that he had tabled a motion in the Scottish Parliament, congratulating Wild things! on our recent funding grant from Highlands & Islands Enterprise, highlighting the work we do. The motion reads as follows:
That the Parliament congratulates Wild Things!, which is based in Findhorn in Moray, on securing £47,000 of funding from Highlands and Islands Enterprise; understands that the funding will be used to support the enterprise side of its business, allowing the award-winning environmental education charity to recruit a head of operations and resources, which will allow it to support existing staff in expanding and developing its programmes; notes the great work that it considers the charity carries out in tackling social and economic problems, and connecting with the great outdoors, by offering environmental educational programmes, as well as a range of outdoor training; understands that over 12,000 children and vulnerable adults have experienced the positive work done by Wild Things!, and wishes everyone involved the very best for the future.
