Helping Young People Build Skills, Confidence, and a Brighter Future

At Wild Things, we believe every young person deserves the chance to step into their future with confidence, resilience, and hope. Our Blue Horizons Project has been created to support young people who are facing challenges in education, mental wellbeing, and access to positive outdoor experiences.

With your support, we can offer life-changing opportunities that help them reconnect, rebuild, and rise.

What Is the Blue Horizons Project?

The Blue Horizon Project is a transformational programme designed for young people who benefit from:

Time away from pressures at school or home
Meaningful outdoor learning experiences
Personal guidance from skilled field instructors
Support to develop confidence, communication, and emotional wellbeing

Through a series of carefully designed sessions, participants learn practical outdoor skills – from firelighting and shelter-building to nature awareness, bushcraft and teamwork challenges. These activities provide not only fun and connection but also a safe space to grow socially, emotionally, and mentally.

Why It Matters

Many of the young people we work with struggle with barriers that hold them back: low confidence, anxiety, disrupted school attendance, or limited access to supportive networks.

Outdoor learning gives them the chance to:

Build resilience and self-belief
Develop communication and teamwork
Discover strengths they didn’t know they had
Experience success in a hands-on, supportive environment
Improve overall wellbeing through time in nature

These outcomes ripple outward – helping them re-engage with school, strengthen relationships, and find new motivation for their future.
